This is NOT
an Auditioned choir. You may select your students as you see fit.
They will be expected to know their music (the four specified pieces) when they
arrive, although they will not be screened as the 10th-12th grade singers
are.
The freshmen
choir will follow the SAME rehearsal schedule as the other Sr. High choirs,
beginning Thursday night and running through the concert on Saturday afternoon.
You may
initially register up to one quartet (that is, one soprano, one alto, one tenor
and one bass) for the freshmen choir. If you do not have a full quartet,
register what you have, one to a voice part.
ADDITIONALLY
– you may register up to another quartet (one of each voice part) as
alternates. These will be called if needed by the Freshman Chorus Chairman.
They will be called in the order they were registered as needed.
The freshmen
choir registration will run concurrently with the registration for the Middle
School choir; that is, it will open the week following All East auditions.
No, unless
your school is a single-gender institution. If you teach at an all girls or all
boy school, you may send a quartet with two of each appropriate gender vocal
part, i.e. two sopranos and two altos or two tenors and two basses.
If you
cannot fill an entire quartet, the freshman chorus chair will call alternates
to fill in your quartet.
Yes – the
singer must be replaced with another singer of the same voice part and the
director must e-mail the freshmen chorus chairman with details.
The freshmen
chorus conductor will select four pieces (or five with permission) for the
chorus that the students will be expected to know before the first rehearsal.
In addition, the conductor may choose one additional piece that he/she will
teach the students during rehearsals.
Yes,
rehearsal CDs will be prepared for the pieces the students are expected to know
before they arrive at All East. The CDs will automatically be sent to directors
for each student they register for the freshmen choir. The school will be
invoiced for the CDs along with the registration.
What is the registration cost for the freshmen chorus?
Directors will be charged $10.00 for each student registered for the freshmen
chorus.
The
students will follow the same behavioral standards as the 10-12th
grade choruses. These are:
1. Attendance is required for the
entire duration of all rehearsals. The
Discipline Committee must approve any exception to this regulation.
2. The door to the rehearsal room will
be closed promptly at the beginning of each rehearsal. Any late student must present his/her excuse
for being tardy to the Discipline Committee.
Students with unacceptable excuses will be eliminated from the
chorus. (Please plan in advance for
heavy traffic and for breakfast on Friday and Saturday morning.)
3. The Discipline committee will render
decisions on all problems relating to student behavior.
4. Students should be in seats for roll
call and ready to sing at the stated times.
5. Exercise self-discipline. No talking during rehearsal.
6. Students should bring music folders,
music with measures numbered, and a pencil to rehearsal.
7. Food and drinks are not permitted in
the building at anytime (bottled water is permitted.)
8. NO SMOKING!
9. Know your music!
The
students will follow the same dress code as the Sr. High students
