All Singers: Randall Thompson's "Pueri Hebraeorum"

 We will do this number SSAA-TTBB. The women will sing Chorus I, and the men will sing Chorus II with all men's parts transposed down an octave. The bass 2 part will be changed in mm. 95-99. (See below.)

Translation: The Hebrew children, carrying olive branches, went to meet the Lord, Crying out and saying: Hosanna to God in the highest!

Tone Syllables:

Tempo: quarter note = 128-136 Allargando, m. 93: quarter-note = 84

Performance Directions:

• 2nd full m. – “m” on 2

• m. 3. – “m” on 4, Same thing in mm. 5 and 6.

• mm. 7 & 8 – “s” on 4m

• m. 21 – “Domino” – p (not mf)

• m 29 – T2 – put a quarter rest on beat 4

• m. 33 – “s” on 3 m. 37 – “s” on 3

• mm. 37-49 – 1st and 3rd syllables staccato as marked, 2nd syllable – stress the “n” mm. 51-52 – observe the rallentando

• mm. 62-68 and 78-82 – melismas slightly detached but not staccato

Note Changes:

• On the last page, change the bass II part to the following: m. 95 – first space F on beat 1, down to Db on beat 2, back up to F on beat 3, up to written A on beat 4.

• m. 96 – 4th line Db on beat 1, down octave to Db on beat 2, up to written Eb on beat 3, down to written C on beat 4.

• m. 98 – on beat 4, write in 2nd line G and sing “Ho” on that note (So the bass part in m. 98 is second line G for three beats and then repeat the G as a quarter-note on beat 4.)

• m. 99 – on beats 2 and 3, write in 2nd line G’s and sing “sanna” (just like 1st tenor but an octave lower)
